How this works
Your moves run locally in your browser using chess.js + chessboard.js. The bot's reply is fetched from the same Maia 2 model that runs the Lichess bot, hosted on HuggingFace Spaces. Time controls don't apply here — the bot uses a fixed search budget per move.
On a held-out 5% slice of nick_p12's blitz games, the fine-tuned model's top-3 predictions contain his actual move 72.8% of the time (top-1: 46.8%, vs 24.9% for base Maia 2 — ~2× lift in style match). Each reply also runs Stockfish over the model's top-5 candidates and picks the strongest, so the bot stays in nick's repertoire without walking into tactics.
